I aim to provide a highly personalized service. Portrait session fee includes 1 to 2 hours of shooting time. Print and product pricing includes post session work (professional image editing, design work, etc.); the prints/products; and a private, temporary online gallery (for selection purposes) showing 20-30 proofs from your session.

Many other print sizes available. All prints 16x20" and above are mounted, unless otherwise stated. Also, all prints are in matte finish unless otherwise stated.

Collections are discounted, allowing you to maximize your investment. They include a variety of prints and products. Collections start at $500.

DIGITAL FILES & PACKAGES:

Individual digital files on CD with a release for personal printing and other non commercial use. Available after a minimum order of $400 of other prints and/or products.

The session fee or advanced purchase are due at the time of booking to hold your date. After your original order has been placed, any additional orders will reflect the current price list.

Session fee covers up to 5 immediate family members. Additional persons may be added for $25 each.

Distance tariff: Between 20 and 30 mile radius from West Los Angeles - additional $25. Please contact me for pricing on locations outside of 30 miles.

California sales tax charged where applicable. In California, both products and session fees are taxable.

Pricing and promotions are applicable for standard portrait sessions only, not for commercial and/or editorial sessions, packages, or mini sessions. Please inquire for commercial project pricing or other special pricing.

APPROACH

I love working with children, and I make every effort to make the session fun for them. I like to get down on their level with them, and I strive to make them comfortable with me. This way we can get the most natural images possible. My goal is to have a relaxed, fun session. I do some posed shots, but mostly I follow my subjects around while they are doing their thing.

With maternity and families and older children, I like to do a mix of posed and spontaneous, interactive shots. Your session can be as formal or casual as you wish. Whether my subject is an adult or child, my goal is to bring out his or her natural character and true essence in my images. Sometime that will involve lots of smiles, and sometimes not. Some of my favorite shots of my children are when they are deep in thought or engaged deeply in discovering a snail or a rock. I will not rush your session, and I understand that breaks are often warranted, especially when photographing children.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your session will take place on location, and in some cases, in studio. On location would mean at your home, a park or the beach, or another location. We can use the inside of your house and/or your backyard as a natural backdrop. If there is adequate room, and you are so inclined, you can request one of my backdrops--or we can do a combination (some backdrop and some natural environment shots). We will work together to determine the best setting for your session.

Once you have booked your session, I will provide you some clothing suggestions and general tips to help you prepare. This information will be specific to the type of session we will be doing (e.g. maternity, newborn, baby, child, family or other). Also, I will ask you a few questions so that I can determine your goals for your photo session.

As for outdoors on location lighting, I shoot mostly with natural light. My goal is for the images to look natural, even on the occasions when extra light from a flash and/or other sources is needed. In studio, I will supplement with artificial light while still creating a natural look.

I shoot digital images, in color, and generally include a mix of color and black and white in your proofing gallery. If you see a specific image or two that you would like converted to black and white, sepia or color, please let me know.

PROOFS

Your proofs will be processed and ready for viewing approximately 2 weeks from the session date. Your gallery will include 20-30 images. As soon as the images are ready for viewing, I will send you an email.

Once you receive the link to your gallery, it will remain available for selection purposes and sharing with your friends and family for 4 days. Orders placed within 48 hours will receive a FREE 8"x10" Timely Order Bonus Print. If more time than the 4 days is needed, the gallery can be re-hosted for additional 3 day increments for $35 each.

Due to the growing popularity of my newborn sessions, and the special place they hold in my heart, I thought it would be appropriate to create a special section dedicated to them.

NEWBORNS: Best Age to Photograph a Newborn

Believe it or not, it's within the first 10 days of life. My favorite age is at 6 days old. What we do is schedule the session on your due date. Then, you (or a family member) just calls me right after the birth so we can adjust the session date accordingly.

Now don't fret if you've already missed the first 10 to 14 day window, especially if your baby or babies were premature. We can still get lovely shots of your newborn(s), but we MAY not be able to get the peaceful sleeping shots or the newborn curl. Each baby is different, and they are precious and quite photogenic at every age and stage.

My name is Susan, and I am a professional custom portrait photographer specializing in children, maternity, newborns and families. Based in Los Angeles, I mostly work on location and with natural light. I do, however, also book studio sessions. My style is contemporary, yet timeless; fresh; and lighthearted. My goal is to capture the essence of my subjects, and the emotions of the moment. I love putting children (and adults) at ease, connecting with them and having fun in the process.

A trait passed down from my father, I am passionate about documenting and celebrating life through photographic images. And it's not just for the sake of documenting in itself, but rather to be able to capture the cherished, fleeting moments that pass so quickly--especially when it comes to infants and young children. Babies and children change so fast! To me, the family photographs we hang on our walls and put in our albums are personalized art, and are priceless. Creating such beautiful keepsakes and memories for others motivates and inspires me.
